E-Reserves (Electronic Reserves) are digital materials (notes, syllabi, tests, scanned articles, webpages, etc.) provided to students online, at a professor’s request, through OSCAR, the library catalog
Closed Reserves are materials placed in the library by individual instructors for exclusive use by their students. They’re "closed" because you need a librarian to get them for you, and "reserves" because they can only be checked out for a very short time (usually 2 hours).
E-Reserves are available through OSCAR, the library catalog. The full instructions for accessing E-reserves are below. Clicking here will take care of steps 1 through 3, and let you go directly to step 4.
2. Near the bottom left, see Find reserves by: Course or Prof/TA. Click on "Course."
3. Type "Man Electronic Reserve" and click "Search" (or simply click here).
4. A list of professors will come up. Click your professor’s name, then your course (i.e. "MAN E-Reserves Su03-Biology 101").
5. You should get a list of reserve materials. Clicking on the one you need will bring it up, often as an Adobe PDF document (you’ll need the free Adobe Reader to view it-- you can download Adobe Reader at Adobe or OSU's Office of Information Technology).
6. You’ll need to enter your name and social security number to access the materials.
Closed Reserves are available at Bromfield Library’s circulation desk. Your professor will let you know if he or she has reserved materials for your class. The library staff will retrieve reserved materials for you -- tell us which course and which item you need.
Closed reserves are checked out to your library account -- you’ll need an ID to borrow them. They typically circulate for only 2 hours (some may circulate longer), and the late fines are very high.
You can find out if your professor has any material on closed reserve for your class by clicking here and entering your professor's last name.
